Turaco's mission is to be there for our customers in their times of greatest need by providing them insurance and credit products designed to work for them.

Care & protect

People face risks. People confront challenges. We want our products and services to help our customers protect the people they love. Our people care about your people.

Right thing

We try to do the right thing, at work and in life. We might not get it right all the time, but we try. Pay claims. Listen to and understand our customers. Be nice.

Have fun

We’re trying to solve some serious problems, but we also want to have fun while we do it.

Social Impact

Turaco is committed to developing tools that meet the real and present needs of emerging market consumers. We believe that these consumers are sophisticated risk managers, and that they want the best tools the world has to offer to help them manage the risks in their lives. We measure our social impact in both the number of people who are using our products, and the total value of insurance premium and credit our customers use to manage their risks.

Profit Impact

Turaco is in business to make money. The only way to effectively accomplish our social and human impact goals is to build a business that can attract significant for-profit investment capital. Turaco’s investors are a mix of socially-minded and profit-minded individuals and funds who are committed to building a wildly successful for-profit insurance and credit business.

Human Impact

Turaco is in the business of redemption. The insurance business has the beauty of meeting people at their most vulnerable moments, coming alongside them, and walking them to a place of wholeness and security. The Turaco Founders' motivation for being in this business comes from our Christian faith. We strive to live out Jesus' call to love our neighbor as ourselves, even when our neighbor lives on the other side of the world.

Our human impact is important, and stems from the faith of the founders. We take inspiration from the following teachings of Jesus:

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”
